Good morning friends, this page is created for observatory purposes and have no ties or affiliation to any political party or association. All that'll be posted here are merely my views and some apolitical individuals. My observation was drawn this morning to the statement credited to the governor of Ekiti state that 'if Pro. Jega is sacked, heaven will not fall'. Actually, the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria chapter 4,section 39 gives right to freedom of expression and the press.
Section 39(1) says and I quote 'Every person shall be entitled to freedom of expression, including freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart ideas and information without interference' end of quote.
It's just unfortunate that sometimes we over-step this freedom and utter statements that is challenging and calling others to war of words and action.
Surely, gov. Fayose has every right to view his opinion and ideas whenever he feels like, but, when opinion started sounding like a challenge to the masses of a nation by an individual feeling that he has an immunity, then,an higher authority needs to call him to order. Failing to, simply suggested that his principal (the presidency) and his party (the PDP) are in consonant with the challenge. Like I said earlier,am apolitical, but,if some utterances become a sort of challenge to the masses,i will definitely speak out. For a start, the issue of Pro. Jega's removal at this stage of 2015 election is beyond political parties space. The masses of this country are looking forward to a free, fair and credible election which I believe Pro. Jega has prepared to give, but, changing a refree in the middle of a football match, since the refree is incapacitated, calls for scrutiny. Even though, freedom of expression is guaranteed under the stated chapter and section of the constitution stated above,i think we need to apply decorum in our utterances. As Nigerians, we sometimes forget history of our dear country. This similar thing happened that truncated the 1st republic, whereby unguarded utterances inflamed the country. In the issue of gov. Fayose,i think, he should be told to play politics according to its rules and regulations. His challenge,as it is,is not directed to the opposition parties, rather,to the large masses of Nigerians who are looking forward to March 28 and April 11 for Pro. Jega to conduct the elections as rescheduled. I'll advise gov. Fayose not to challenge the capacity of the masses with his utterances. If he's advised by the power that be to make the statement, then, its unfortunate, because, the power belong to the people.
